Three decades later, the devil returns for Marlena's soul in ‘Days Of Our Lives’
We first saw the devil come for Marlena's soul in 1994, 27 years later, the TV soapie revisits the storyline. Marlena being possessed is one of the most iconic storylines we viewers can remember from the ‘Days Of Our Lives’ series. It has even become a meme decades later.
The franchise has now chosen to bring the storyline back to life. 'Marlena Evans' (played by Deidre Hall), who has consistently been a fan favourite, sees her battle with the Devil again as he controls her soul.

The show's producers promise that viewers will see some familiar faces return and the suspense will be even more evoking this time around.
They also promise that no one will be safe in Salem in 2021. After 27 years, we cannot wait to see how the remake of the intense storyline unfolds.

The Storyline
'Days Of Our Lives' released a statement that explained how 'Marlene' became possessed: “It all began when the villainous 'Stefano Dimera' (Joseph Mascolo) hypnotised Marlena, as his “Queen of the Night”.
“The hypnosis meant to make her fall in love with him left her open to demonic possession and ultimately led to 'Marlena' becoming possessed by the devil.
“Later that year, on Christmas eve, in one of the most memorable moments in American pop culture history, Marlena levitated.
“The story continued through 1995 and concluded that summer when 'John Black' (Drake Hogestyn), her now-husband who was thought to be a priest at the time, had to perform an emergency exorcism.”
