Dying to open that bottle of wine, but have no corkscrew with you? Do not fret, as long as you have a sturdy key at hand, you will be sorted, or at least so it seems.

In one of his latest life hacks, Dave Hax teaches viewers how to open a bottle of wine using a house key. However, it comes with a warning; use a strong key that will not bend.

Apart from the key, you may need a cloth to cover your hands, and a synthetic cork.

Below is how Dave suggests you open wine using keys:

- Start by removing the cover to get access to the cork.

- Take your key, push it down into the cork at an angle. For safety reasons, use a piece of cloth to cover the key so it doesn't hurt your hand.

- Push the key as deep as you can all the way into the cork.

- Next use your thumbs to push the key around to break the seal between the cork and the bottle.

- As you are rotating it, carefully lift up the key at the same time to start lifting the cork out of the bottle.

- The cork will start to rip a bit, but when it’s far enough out, pull it out with your hand the rest of the way.

Now try this at home and let us know if it works. You may just be one of the first people that actually manages to make this work.
