Why women pay more for products than men

Ever heard of 'pink tax'? If you are a woman, you have most probably paid 'pink tax' before - without even realising it.
Women reportedly pay an extra $1,351 a year when compared to men. But why? We explore the reasons in this article.
In a study completed by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs using over 800 women, 42% of the time women paid more for the same products as men.
Some of the items women pay more for are razors, dry-cleaning, and deodorant.
According to different dry cleaners, women's items are more delicate than men's, and require to be hand-pressed, hence the increase in price.
Plus-size clothing for women also costs more, and the reason for that, according to Old Navy, is that "styles are not just larger sizes of other women’s items, they are created by a team of designers who are experts in creating the most flattering and on-trend plus styles, which includes curve-enhancing and curve-flattering elements such as four-way stretch materials and contoured waistbands, which most men’s garments do not include.”
Over the years, more research has been done on why women pay more, and the following reasons were found:
Packaging: Some manufacturers have blamed packaging, material, and ingredients for the high cost. Women are being lured by packaging and presentation.
Willing to do it: Women generally love shopping more than men and are willing to spend just about anything on items they love.
