Linah Mmola from Limpopo is said to have celebrated her 117th birthday this year. While her family is trying to track down her original ID documents, her only daughter, Sarah Bothane says she was born on 2 January 1898, around the time of the first Boer War in South Africa.
But her take on life is what struck a chord. According to Linah, the secret to a long life is staying true to one man and good food, with spinach and pap which she used to make for her family being the staple in her life of longevity.
