Backpacker wanted to go to Sydney Australia but flew to Sydney in Canada instead!
Updated | By Boledi Makofane
A Dutch backpacker found out the hard way that there is more than one Sydney in the world when he found himself in Canada rather than Australia.
Milan Schipper, from Amsterdam, only realised he was heading to the 'wrong' Sydney in Nova Scotia rather than Sydney in New South Wales when the plane was about to land!
Well, in case you were wondering, he did notice that his plane ticket cost him a bit less than he'd expected, but figured it might just be his lucky day.

We are pretty sure this has happened to most of us though (the confusion, not flying to the wrong place), as there are many places in the world with the same names.
For example, there are other places in the world that share their names with these South African towns and cities:
1. Port Elizabeth in SA is a seaside town in the Eastern Cape but Port Elizabeth in New Jersey doesn't look as pretty.
2. Margate in KZN is a holiday destination for most South Africans; there's a Margate in Kent, UK which is an even more beautiful holiday destination.
3. Johannesburg or Jozi, as we like to call it, has its namesake in California and it looks nothing like our metropolis, it looks more like a scene from a wild west movie with a tiny population.
4. Pretoria, also know as the Jacaranda City, also has a rather underwhelming namesake in Georgia, USA.
5. Cape Town is world famous for its gorgeous cityscape and, of course, the wonder or the world Table Mountain; the other Cape Town on the other side of the world is a tiny spot in California, USA.
Has this ever happened to you?
