Plett Rage - The Biggest Matric Pens Down Party
Updated | By Boledi Makofane
Plett Rage takes place every year in Plettenberg Bay. Tickets range from R1 100 to R3 500, excluding accommodation. Matriculants flock to the coast to let their hair down and hopefully forget about the stress of their exams for 8 days. Famous artists perform, new friendships are formed and alcohol flows freely for those old enough to indulge.
The 2016 Plett Rage took place from Friday the 1st December until Saturday the 8th of December.
According to its attendees this is a chance for them to relax after a stressful exam period and a chance to party with their peers. Concerning videos and images have popped up showing teenagers consuming alcohol. While it is said that measures are taken to ensure that teenagers under the age of 18 do not consume alcohol, one cannot help but wonder if there are ways around these measures.
As a parent, would you trust your 18 year old to attend a 10 day party where alcohol is freely provided? Would you be willing to spend over R6000 for your child to attend a party? Have you as a child attended this festival and what was your take on it? Did you make new friends? Was it all you expected it to be? Do you ever wonder if drugs could be used at these parties?
A video has been making the rounds and it shows teenagers kissing in public, would this be concerning to you if these were your kids?
