Host a play date without all the fuss
Playdates don't have to be stressful; keep things simple and let the kids bring the fun.
The winter school holidays are upon us, and we hope you have made time to think about fun things to do with the kids. One of the easiest and most cost-efficient things is planning a playdate.
This may seem daunting for some mothers who feel the pressure of being the hostess with the most.
Kids are simple creatures; they only want fun time with their friends and snacks. Focus on that, and you will be 'A' for away.
Think about it this way, who are you truly pleasing by getting fancy snack platters that end up being wasted or on the floor, the kids or the other mothers?

A mother who tried everything shared simple tips on planning a playdate without all the fuss. Let's be clear: There will always be one mother (maybe two) who makes you feel like you haven't done enough.
To that mother, don't be a hater.
1. Bring your own snack
Instead of spending precious time trying to coordinate on the menu and what to serve based on dietary requirements, ask the other parents to carry snacks. You could even suggest a bring-and-share.
2. Less is more - the toy edition
Relieve the pressure of carrying toys or hosting with various toy options. Children will find a way to have fun without the toys. Carry some and leave the rest up to them.
3. Get outdoors
One of the best things you can do is get everyone outdoors. There's a reason people say the fresh air will do you good. It's a great idea to take things outside, set up a picnic-style play date, and we can assure you the kids will love it.
The midday sun can sometimes be harsh, even in winter, so erect a gazebo or sit under a tree. If you don't have a tree, then it may be fun for the kids if you set up a camping tent.

4. Be present
Far too often, when playing host, you tend to fiddle with everyone and everything and fail to enjoy time with your guests. The play date isn't just for the kids; it offers you time to be around other parents, relax, and enjoy their company and conversation.
5. House rules
Don't be afraid to set out the rules before the play date commences. These could be general housekeeping rules like the location of the toilet, taking off your shoes or no drinking liquids in the lounge, or focus on explaining to the kids to play nice with one another.
