A proudly South African Korean talks about accents

It truly amazes us how the spirit of Ubuntu can exist in such varied ways.
And the varied ways are represented by people from all sorts of cultures; cultures that breathe light into the already diverse nature of our country, which is what we thrive on as a nation.
One man who truly represented this perfectly is a Korean who resides in South Africa by the name of Min-Jae Cho.

He shared a video on TikTok a few months ago talking about a leadership conference he had attended in Korea.
The conference brought Koreans from all over the world together, discussing the future of Korea and how they can make an impact.
One of the things that stuck with him throughout the conference was how everyone kept telling him he had an accent.

As we approach our month of heritage, we are firmly reminded that being South African doesn't mean one thing.
We are and never will be represented by just one stock image. People were so happy to hear his proudly South African accent, with many of them saying that they were finding it hard to comprehend that he spoke the way he did.
Yes, there is shock sometimes when we speak differently and don't fit into the stereotypical box, but that's the beauty of our diversity - and that is what makes us all unique in our own way...
