After a long day at work, it can be really challenging to remain engaged and enthusiastic with your children.

There's nothing wrong with that, but it's always good to take a step back and think about how you come across with them.

When they ask to help, pause and rethink the big fat no that you tend to migrate towards.

Because as much as saying 'no' is the easier answer, the benefits that come with saying 'yes' to them will amaze you.

And will possibly come with its rewards later, when it comes to their behaviour.

Paediatrician, Dr. Cathryn, shared some great insight as to why it is important to let your toddler help you.

When you say 'yes' to your toddler helping you, you are in fact helping them. Because allowing them to help gives the sense of feeling capable, which leads to their co-operation.

Ideally by saying yes here, you are also making your life better, because they will let you lead and be more inclined to listen.

Letting them help helps them with their self esteem. And isn't that what we yearn to do as parents?

To ensure that our kids grow up mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy.

It also assists toddlers in learning about teamwork.

This is key in bringing up a child, it can be a positive reinforcement into the way your child deals with both their peers and other people.

So as much as we can opt for the 'easier' way out when it comes to our little one's offers to help, sometimes easier isn't better.

Think about how wonderful it will be seeing them washing a cup, or cooking with you.

Those memories will last a lifetime, and the added perks are that they are learning whilst doing it.
