Sleep. Some say it's overrated, others say they never get enough, and then there are those that get too much that they wake up tired...

Yes, it seems the all-important rest that we take daily so we can function will reduce in the coming years.

And you will never guess what the reason behind it all is...

A new study has revealed that people around the world are likely to lose between 50 and 58 hours of sleep per year by 2099, all due to climate change.

"Adults should get seven to nine hours of sleep, according to the National Sleep Foundation. The likelihood of getting less than seven hours of sleep increased by 3.5% if minimum outside nighttime temperatures exceeded 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) compared with the baseline temperature of 41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (5 to 10 degrees Celsius), the study found." Did you know that a lack of sleep over time can cause you to suffer from health conditions such as cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases?

So, ultimately, having a good night's rest is healthy for you. In case you were wondering.

But the crazy part is that with the rise in temperatures, you could be reducing your sleep time to about a quarter hour per person.

What people had to say...

sabrinaselene90: "I could have done without this information, it’s like you are actively trying to ruin my day."

benjiikrol: "I'm 94 year's old😭😭"

We guess they didn't find it funny or helpful at all. Perhaps the only thing to do is to try and salvage the damage that we have caused and follow some healthier habits that do not promote climate change?
