Father slammed for trying to change son's date of birth

A new dad was forbidden from changing his newborn son's birthday from 31 December 2020 to 1 January 2021.

A man attempted to change his baby's birthday on the birth certificate because he didn't want him to be born in 2020.

The father argued with the nurse about the change he wanted to make on the official papers. He even went so far to tell her that she was making a huge deal out of it.

"And that this was unfair to my son because he only lived in 2020 for just one hour," the father said.

His son was born at 11.05 pm on New Year's Eve 2020.

The man explains in a Reddit post that the nurse handed him a form to fill out to record their child's details and when he got to the date and time of birth, he chose to put 12.05 am on January 1 instead because "one hour difference wasn't really a problem".

The nurse, however, stopped him and told him that the details must be filled out with the exact time and date. An argument sparked as the father claimed that he had the power to do it as he is the child's father.

The nurse and a paediatrician ended up taking the form and didn't let him fill it out. Post the incident, the father took to Reddit to ask for other people's opinions, with many users slamming his behaviour.

"As a parent, you don't have authority over space and time. His date and time of birth is a fact, not an opinion," one user wrote.

A third added: "A bunch of terrible things happened to you in 2020, but one good thing also happened. Your son was conceived and born in 2020."
