All hell broke loose when a customer inside an appliance store got involved in an argument between a man and a store employee.

A video was posted to Facebook by Simone Beukes, who was yelled at by the unidentified man while trying to defend the employee.

According to Beukes, the unidentified man lost his temper after being told that he could not buy a television because he allegedly did not have a TV licence. It is a requirement by law that an individual present a TV licence in order to purchase a television.

The incident took place inside the Dion Wired store at Somerset Mall near Cape Town on the 22nd of August 2018.

According to the post on Facebook, the man started fighting with the employee, and Beukes thought she could calm the situation and intervened. While Beukes was trying to calm the man down, the man got angry and started yelling at her.

Following the release of the video, social media has been divided by Beukes' role in the matter. While some believe what she did was harmless and she was only trying to help, others did not agree, saying that she had no place getting involved.

One thing that many did agree on, however, was the handling of the situation by the store in question, with many slamming them for not sticking up for Beukes during the verbal attack and removing her safely from the situation.

Dion Wired has been given right of reply and we will update you with any developments in this regard.
