Holocaust survivor Inge Ginsberg makes a great death metal frontwoman
Updated | By The Workzone with Barney Simon
Inge Ginsberg, 96, is the lead singer of Swiss 'death metal' band TritoneKings. She has always lived life by her own rules.
Inge Ginsberg was born in Vienna and the bulk of her youth was spent fleeing unrest, notably during World War II. Inge was able to escape to Switzerland, where she met her husband Otto, who would soon become her biggest collaborator.
The two of them left Switzerland for America in the 1950s, where they worked as songwriters and composers for the greats of the time, such as Dean Martin and Doris Day. Inge continued to write lyrics well into her old age, and was looking for a way to continue to produce music and reach a new audience when she finally decided to form a death metal band.
Inge and the TritoneKings entered the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their single, "Laugh at Death". Seeing the now 98-year-old Inge in an understated ball gown, singing along to heavy guitar music and telling a story about enjoying every moment of life while it lasts is quite something.

Inge's unusual choice to front a death metal band has earned her the nickname "Death Metal Grandma" and caught the attention of filmmaker Leah Galant, who has produced a documentary about Inge's life.
Inge's fighting spirit and determination to make the most of her life no matter the circumstances have brought her this far. This rocking grandma should be an inspiration to us all.
