Artisans key to growing economy

The human resource development council says the development of artisans is key for economic growth. Over the next two days, 500 delegates from government and the private sector will discuss how to accelerate skills development in the country in order to address poverty, unemployment and inequality. The Department of Higher Education and Training is implementing recommendations of the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) task team, through its turnaround strategy for Tvet colleges 24 of 50 Tvet Colleges have been adopted by companies in the private sector. Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the key note address, saying it is up to the Council to change the face of the country - to that where skilled workers become the focus.
