Radebe: Winnie was a most remarkable woman
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Senior African National Congress (ANC) leader Jeff Radebe has described late struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela as one of the most remarkable women to walk on South African soil.
Matikizela-Mandela died at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on Monday following a long sickbed.
According to family spokesperson Victor Dlamini, the struggle icon died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.
Radebe urged South Africans to celebrate Madikizela-Mandela's life.

"Mamma Winnie Mandela was identified by the masses of our people as the mother of the nation. This was in recognition of her fearless and uncompromising stand she took against the might of the apartheid regime."
ANC national chairperson Gwede Mantashe says her passing will leave a void within the ANC.
"The departure of Mamma Winnie, one of the very few who were left in our stalwarts and icons of the struggle. She is one of those who will tell us what is wrong and what is right at any time. We are going to be missing that."
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to visit the family home in Soweto on Monday evening.
