Hawks nab three suspected rhino poachers
Updated | By Laila Majiet
It is believed the men were en route to poach rhinos in Thabazimbi, Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda said in a statement.
"The Limpopo Rhino Poaching Task Team acted on information from the Hawks in Pretoria about a vehicle carrying the suspects to a private game farm in Thabazimbi."
The vehicle was identified, stopped and searched said Netshiunda.
A panga, a hunting rifle with a silencer, and eight rounds of live ammunitions were found in possession of the trio.
The men, aged between 34 and 40, will appear at the Bela Bela magistrate's court on Friday.
He said they face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as conspiracy to commit rhino poaching.
