Eskom announced on Friday morning that the power grid was stable and would enable them to do maintenance without loadshedding.

"However, as a result of increased electricity demand in the evening and power stations’ units being on maintenance, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm-9pm),” the power utility said.

“As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm.”

Eskom appealed to people to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but especially during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm.
