Discovering new music on Breakfast with Martin Bester
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The South African music industry has been hit hard by the COVID-19 regulations.

Artists' instruments have been gathering dust during the COVID-19 lockdown, as the entertainment industry has largely been but on halt. When they could, it was at a fraction of what they could previously do.
Martin Bester spoke to GoodLuck’s Jules and she said: “We are the forgotten industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all resilient, but then I also think unfortunately don’t take the industry seriously.”
The COVID-19 restrictions in South Africa has been devastating to the entertainment industry. Musicians, ‘roadies’, and the workers who build sets had to close shop.
According to The Conversation: “From March 2020 until very recently, 90% of the live music industry lost income due to COVID-19.”
