Nike’s 'Reuse-A-Shoe' programme recycles athletic shoes at the end of their life.

The shoe giant will give it a new life through Nike Grind.
Nike says: “We make it easy for materials to live on from one product to the next—just drop your used shoes at a participating Nike retail store in North America or Europe. We accept any brand of athletic sneakers, but we're unable to recycle sandals, dress shoes, boots, or shoes with metal (like cleats or spikes).”

It is unclear when the initiative will hit South Africa.
