Charlize Theron calls Afrikaans a "dying language", says "it's not a very helpful language"

In a recent interview, the South African-born actress made some serious claims about Afrikaans.

Actress Charlize Theron sparked controversy among South Africans after she made claims about the Afrikaans language.

"There's about 44 people still speaking it. It's definitely a dying language; it's not a very helpful language," she said in the interview.

Theron's claims were made during an episode of the SmartLess podcast, with hosts Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman, and Will Arnett.
Although the 'Monster' actress' claims sparked rage in many Afrikaans speakers, some believe that Theron was only joking.
