Gauteng exceeds 1 000 Covid-19 deaths

The country’s epi-centre, Gauteng, has now breached the 1 000 mark when it comes to Covid-19 related deaths.

As of Tuesday night, the total number of deaths recorded in the province increased by 43, taking the total number of fatalities in Gauteng to 1 042.
The daily coronavirus statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, state that 195 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded nationwide in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday.

A total of 8 170 new infections were recorded on Tuesday, bringing the national total of cases to 381 798.
Gauteng is followed by the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, with the most cases in the country.
The number of recoveries have also shown a significant increase, standing at a rate of 54%.
