JRA to assess damage caused by storm

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) says it will begin assessing the extent of the damage caused by yesterday's storm.

JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers says inspectors will be assessing roads and bridges across the city.
"This includes sinkholes that have formed on many roads. As well as some bridge structures that have been damaged, and they will need to assess if some of the bridges and roads need to be closed."

"There has also been a lot of storm water damage onto properties and homes, and we have to assess the storm water drainage system and the damage there," says Scheepers
Yesterday, Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp was severely damaged by the storm and two people were injured when a part of the ceiling collapsed in one of the shops.
