Good Morning Angels Festive Edition: New wheelchair for airplane technician
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
The Angels came together to help Happy Mpongose, an airplane technician with a brand new wheelchair. The Good Morning Angels Festive Edition is proudly sponsored by Roman's Pizza.

BACKGROUND: Happy Mpongose never misses a day of work. He loves his job as an airplane technician at the Wonderboom Airport in northern Pretoria. The fact that he has been bound to a wheelchair for the past 12 years, has never held him back. Mpongose lost the use of his legs in a road accident, but he remained a valuable member of the team at Wonderboom Airport, where he has worked for the past 23- years.
One of his colleagues, Theresa Lerm has however noticed that Mpongose is struggling to wheel himself in his manual chair of late. She wrote to Good Morning Angels to ask for assistance for their precious employee, to buy an electric wheelchair.
REQUEST FOR: Happy Mpongose
REQUEST FROM: Theresa Lerm
ANGEL: Bonnie Cooper, representing Roman's Pizza
SPONSORING: Roman's Pizza will assist Happy Mpongose with R35 000 towards a new wheelchair and other expenses.
ORIGINAL REQUEST:
I have a special request for help for one of our employees that is 23 years in service with us. Happy Mpongose is at work every day, without complaints. He is bound to a wheelchair and needs an upgraded wheelchair as his hands and arms are getting weaker and he cannot manually turn his wheelchair with his hands anymore.
Is there any chance that we can get donations for an upgraded wheelchair, please? We are not looking for anything fancy, just a chair that he can use with more ease.
I will appreciate it very much.
Regards,
Theresa Lerm
