BACKGROUND: Kagiso Media, owners of Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio, have put together the KM Hunger Relief Fund to assist communities in need during the drawn out Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa. The most basic need remains food. Jacaranda FM will give a platform to four organisations per day, who actively work within afflicted communities to feed the thousands of families who currently cannot earn a living. We want to know who these community Angels are and how our listener community can assist them. Jacaranda FM will also equally distribute R500,000 from the Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund to these organisations in the form of AngelRands. We will publish the details of each organisation on www.jacarandafm.com so you can contact them and donate directly to assist the essential work they do.

Update: The Barn Compassion have now given out 563 000 meals to the poor and vulnerable. We are setting up structures for medical relief, counselling, skills development and a few others. It has been a challenging but phenomenally rewarding initiative.

The Barn Compassion : R12,500 in AngelRands from the KM Hunger Relief Fund. We will also publish their info and banking detail on our website, so people who want to support their efforts can do so directly.

Good morning Angels Team :)

I was hoping we could share this Good News story with you and see if you can help us with more funding. It’s something unique as it involves 30 organisations and churches - it’s exciting because churches and NGO’s are joining hands to make a difference during this lockdown food crisis time for the poor. Our communities include Zandspruit, Cosmo City, Kya Sands, Lion Park and Muldersdrift, Ruimsig, Honeydew and Windsor and we have served 360 258 meals in April and May, but we have an urgent need to feed more people. We are building different pillars such as Medical, Education, Food, Counselling etc that people in our groups are running with, to strengthen the communities even more.We do desperately need to raise more funds so that we can sustain our provisions to the poor beyond Lockdown.

Kind Regards,

Katja Schmidt
