Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund: Purple Grandeur (aka Royal Love)

Kagiso Media, owners of Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio have put together the KM Hunger Relief Fund to assist communities in need during the drawn-out Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa. 

The most basic need remains food. Over the next two weeks, Jacaranda FM will give a platform to four organisations per day, who actively work within afflicted communities to feed the thousands of families who currently cannot earn a living. We want to know who these community Angels are and how our listener community can assist them. Jacaranda FM will also equally distribute R500 000,00 from the Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund to these organisations in the form of AngelRands.

We will publish the details of each organisation on www.jacarandafm.com so you can contact them and donate directly to assist the essential work they do.

Purple Grandeur 

They offer various activities and projects around the townships of Emalahleni(Witbank) to empower and assist child-headed households, with food and homework, using their own phones and data.

The organization operates on very limited resources, mostly donations from well-wishers, friends and the director herself, Sibongile Nkosi, who out of passion for developing and empowering women and girls consistently perform activities to benefit others at her own cost.

Purple Grandeur currently assists residents in 150 shacks and also provide counseling and shelter for GBV victims, sanitary towels for girls and food parcels for single parent, women-and girl-led households. Despite the financial challenges and difficulties in executing their duties, Purple Grandeur continues to make a difference in the community: one girl and one woman at a time.
