Kagiso Media, owners of Jacaranda FM and East Coast Radio have put together the KM Hunger Relief Fund to assist communities in need during the drawn-out Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa.

The most basic need remains food. Over the next two weeks, Jacaranda FM will give a platform to four organisations per day, who actively work within afflicted communities to feed the thousands of families who currently cannot earn a living. We want to know who these community Angels are and how our listener community can assist them. Jacaranda FM will also equally distribute R500 000,00 from the Kagiso Media Hunger Relief Fund to these organisations in the form of AngelRands.

We will publish the details of each organisation on www.jacarandafm.com so you can contact them and donate directly to assist the essential work they do.

WASP Community Services

They’ve been providing support to widows, orphans, street children, pensioners and to those infected with and affected by HIV Aids since 2012.

WASP is currently feeding 70 children with one meal a day. They are also distributing food hampers to over 500 families (on average 1500 people) twice a month. These people are mostly pensioners and also unemployed people in the Bertrams, Bezuidenhout Valley and Malvern areas. WASP has been stretching reserve funds as best they could to assist the hungry in their community, but they now need assistance to keep their feeding scheme and hamper distribution going.
