Meet the Type C mom embracing organised chaos
Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
Type C moms are less demanding of themselves and take a balanced approach to parenting.

Type A + Type B = Type C
These hybrid moms are redefining their motherhood journeys.
The 'Type C Mom' went viral on TikTok after a woman named Ashleigh Surratt made the term popular.
"I just figured that if Type A are the moms who have the labelled bins and the beautiful snack packs and Type B are the moms who let their kids play in the splash pad in their clothes, maybe forgot shoes and their car's a wreck - maybe A plus B equals C," she said.
Surratt reveals why she started calling herself a Type C mom.
"I was just sitting in my car one day, and I was like, 'Wow, I'm really Type A about some things, really Type B about other things, and I kind of feel like I don't belong."
The mom influencer has shared several funny videos detailing being a Type C mom.
Surratt says she has received an overwhelming response from moms who feel guilty about not being a Type A mom, who, according to Motherly, "thrives on order and planning."
They also don't feel like they are entirely Type B moms who embrace "flexibility and spontaneity".
"And not really feeling like you're doing a great job, or you know where you fit. I have felt that for my entire motherhood journey," she said.
Surratt is fully embracing being a Type C mom.
"She's the one with the planner and the pile of laundry. She's the one with the organised shoe bucket but you can never find socks," she said in her TikTok post.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Lisa Franks told Parents why moms are attracted to Type C.
"Many are working moms, neurodivergent moms, or moms healing from perfectionism, have intentionally let go of certain pressures while still craving consistency for their children," she said.
Social media users say they love their idea of organised chaos regarding parenting.
"I have a theory that type C moms are just type A moms with ADHD," one woman joked.
Another woman added: "I have always felt like Type C is a mom who needs a village that isn't there. Constantly overwhelmed and overstimulated and never gets a break."
A third said, "I relate so much to it. It is the type A mom who realises what is most important with her kids: time. This is the first time I have learned in my life to let go."
