Benefits for women
Plain yoghurt has been proven to have added health benefits for females.
Yoghurt contains probiotics which can improve vaginal health.
When ingested, yogurt or probiotic supplements that contain the correct cultures can help repopulate the vagina with healthy bacteria. As such, yogurt can help prevent infection and reduce symptoms of vaginal itching.- Medicine Net
Medical News Today reports: "Using yogurt that contains helpful bacteria may restore a healthy balance of yeast and bacteria in the vagina. Lactobacillus releases hydrogen peroxide, which kills Candida, helping to combat a yeast infection."
Apart from helping with vaginal health, plain yoghurt is also great for the skin because it has lactic acid which prevents break-outs and moisturises the skin.
It can also be used as a deep conditioning treatment for the hair.
