Avicii, real name Tim Berling, the Swedish electronic dance DJ and producer has been found dead in Muscat, Oman in Western Asia on Friday.
An official statement from his rep reads: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
He was ranked sixth on the International Top 100 DJ list in 2011 and visited South Africa the year after.
In 2016, he retired from live performances due to health reasons.
Details surrounding his death have not been revealed at this stage.
