Calum Scott says his new song is for everyone who knows love beyond limits.

The singer-songwriter debuted his new single 'Die For You', on Friday, May 23. It has been described as a "tender declaration of fiercely devoted love".

Scott co-wrote the ballad for his upcoming album, 'Avenoir', with Jon 'MAGS' Maguire and Corey Sanders.

"If the world was on fire, I'd fight it for you/ I'd cry enough water and breathe all the fumes/ All the burns and the scars I'd wear like tattoos/ And if it meant dying, then I'd die for you," he sings.

Scott shared a preview of the clip a few days before its release and explained the meaning behind the track.

"This song is for everyone who knows love beyond limits. And having the people that you would do anything for," he said on Instagram.

The 36-year-old revealed how much the song means to him in a separate post.

"I don’t know if I’ve ever been excited about a release like I am about this one. I just know this is special, down to my bones. Thank you for the love so far – I can’t wait to see the journey this song goes on. Love ya," he wrote.

The ballad is already a fan favourite. Couples have been using it to share their love stories online. Scott shared one of the video.

"The way you’ve been using ‘Die For You’ 🥹🥹… I’m honestly blown away. The song’s not even out yet but seeing your love stories, your moments, your emotion – means everything to me. 🤍 Keep the videos coming."

Scott revealed in a statement that he has been working on the song for years.

"I have been eagerly anticipating for the last four years to release this song. After experimenting with more uptempo songs on the album, I wanted something that spoke to the soul," he said.

"'Die For You’ is a classic devotion of love, a poetic and visual kind of storytelling that from my earliest dreams of being an artist, was what I always saw myself performing. This feels just as special to me as ‘You Are The Reason’ and ‘Dancing On My Own.’ I’m so excited for the world to hear this.”

This is the second release from his upcoming album. It follows 'God Knows', which debuted in April.

This is Scott's third studio album. It is due for release in September.

"It has been a long 3 years to work on this album but this is the album I needed to make! I feel more ‘Calum Scott’ than I ever have before and I think you’ll hear that on this new record!" he said.
