'Friend of Mine': Rihanna releases new song
Updated | By Music Reporter
'I’ll take it at this point.' Rihanna's fans had a hilarious reaction to the release of her new 'Smurfs' movie song.

Rihanna has finally released new music, but it is not what her fans expected.
The soon-to-be mother of three recorded a song for the upcoming 'Smurfs' movie called 'Friend of Mine'.
Two days after Paramount Pictures teased the song in the film's trailer, Rihanna, who voices Smurfette in the movie, officially released it on Friday.
The track has been described as an Afrobeats-sounding dance song. She sings:
Ooh, I think the word here is "déjà-vu"
Just met you tonight, but you feel like a friend of mine
Feel like a friend of mine, feel like a friend of mine
Feel like a friend of mine, feel like a friend of mine
How can so familiar be so brand new?
Just met you tonight, but you feel like a friend of mine

"Friend of Mine' is Rihanna's first song release since 2022's 'Lift Me Up', which she recorded for the 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' movie.
Jon Bellion, who co-produced the song, told Billboard the song was written during a writing camp.
"It was a bunch of people having a blast, doing a music camp together, jamming on some DJ s**t and playing chords and just having fun."
He says that while the song was written for a children's movie, it doesn't feel like it.
"From a product standpoint, I don’t think you get such major chords and such a positive [message] over a dance record that doesn’t sound like a kids movie too often. So when do you nail the feel-good, family-friendly, high-taste, deep ‘90s nostalgia, that can also be played into the kids movie? Shoot it out into the world!”
Rihanna fans are thrilled that she is finally releasing new music, though it is not what they expected. The 37-year-old has been promising her Navy, as her fans are called, new music for years.
Her last full-length album, 'ANTI', was released nine years ago.
While her fans admit her new song is catchy, it isn't quite what they are used to from the star.
"She's on her couch with a glass of wine, laughing at us," one person commented on YouTube. A second said, "If you told me this was a fan-made AI song, I'd believe it."
However, some said they would take what they could get at this point.
"It’s giving, 'And here we go! I hope you’re hungry…for nothing,' but I’ll take it at this point."
Some fans came to Rihanna's defence, saying the song isn't really for her fans but kids.
"She said we will get lullabies, and we are getting kiddie songs."
