Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae's new song debuts at #1
'What I Want' is Tate McRae's first number-one song on America's singles chart.
Country singer Morgan Wallen has bagged his fourth #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 with his new song, 'What I Want'.
The track features Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae.
'What I Want' is featured on Wallen's latest studio album, 'I'm the Problem', which was released on May 16.
The track kicked Kendrick Lamar's 'Luther' off the top spot after 13 consecutive weeks at number one.
Wallen has six songs in the top 10, including 'Just in Case', 'Superman', and his album's title track, 'I'm the Problem'.
His new album also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
"Spanning 37 tracks, 'I’m The Problem' combines Wallen’s country, cross and dirt-rock influences, and features collaborations with pop superstars Post Malone and Tate McRae, plus close friends Eric Church, ERNEST and HARDY," a statement reads.
Wallen recorded 50 songs for the project before reducing the list to 37.
"We had straight-up country songs, which I always do, and then we had more of an alternative-indie approach on a few of them. Those songs end up being a little bit countrified, just because that’s who we are and that’s how we do them," he said.
"And then the more cross-genre approach might end up on a multi-genre radio station, just because of all the influences that I’ve had throughout my life, listening to every single type of music. I think I’ve stuck to that approach with 'I’m The Problem', getting an anchor song for each style and once we have those anchor songs dialed in, we fill up those buckets."
