Singer Grimes says social media platforms like 'X', which is owned by her baby daddy, Elon Musk, are poison.

The Canadian musician returned to social media after a brief break and was less than impressed with what she saw.

"I've basically been entirely off social media and returning here it is overrwhelmingly abundantly and profoundly clear that this place - and all of these places - are a poison," she wrote on X.

Grimes doubled down on her remarks by describing it as "a theatre".

"A prison of utterly short form deep sounding nonsense attached to no one that ur brain will discard imaging its learning."

"The entire thing is a theatre. A s**** pale simulacra of a life," she tweeted.

It's not the first time Grimes has criticised social media.

Earlier this year, she revealed that she has begged the billionaire to keep their children,  X Æ A-XiiExa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus, off social media.

"I unfortunately do not control the internet and cannot wipe this from the internet. I have tried begging the public and my kids dad to keep them offline, and I've tried legal recourse," she wrote.

"I've seen young ppl destroyed by the internet too. The state of my children's lives being public is of grave concern to me."

Meanwhile, Grimes also revealed that she is working on new music.

One of her followers commented: "I know it might be boring for u, the same old thing, but we miss new music."

Grimes replied: "Coming - working very very hard!"

She last released a studio album in 2020.

'Miss Anthropocene' featured the singles 'Violence', 'So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth', 'My Name Is Dark', '4ÆM', and 'Delete Forever'.
