She will also be visiting a school in Bushbuckridge to hand over sanitary towel packs to young women. Some learners are at a permanent disadvantage as they are forced to stay at home as they are unable to afford this basic necessity.

Kunene, who will speak about the value of education, something which is close to her heart, says: "Education has and always will be a priority for me. I am particularly delighted to be taking part in this event because it showcases a variety of careers to young people.”

"As well as being Miss South Africa, I am also a qualified teacher. However, as a young girl growing up I was fortunate enough to have been exposed to many opportunities that allowed me to make certain choices which have led me to be where I am today. I have seen people getting into careers that they do not like because they believed there was only one option open to them."

She says she wants to encourage young people to focus on their education, explore their career path and to open their minds to every opportunity.

"Some people are fortunate to get it right the first time, others need to try again. My message to young people is simple. Do not give up, keep on keeping on. One day you will reap the rewards and be all that you imagined yourself to be," she says.

The events are being held in association with the Mpumalanga Department of Education.
