Ayanda Mabulu: We do have some freedom in SA
Updated | By MornéJK
Controversial artist, Ayanda Mabulu told Jacaranda FM's Complimentary Breakfast that there is some sort of freedom in South Africa, despite the recent moves by the SABC to broadcast violent images.

Mabulu told host, Rian that although there is some freedom when it comes to the media as well as self-expression, there is a fine line between freedom and being censored.
This comes after Mabulu painted another picture of President Jacob Zuma engaged in illicit acts, this time with Atul Gupta.
Mabulu was first catapulted into the spotlight for a painting of President Zuma naked while sporting traditional Zulu regalia.
He said that if he had painted the same paintings in the apartheid area he would have been jailed but he would also have been hailed a hero by "his people."
"But there has been a shift, now that I am depicting a black president, I am being labelled a traitor," Mabulu said.

He added that we need more people to speak out and add their voices to the call for change.
"We need more Ayanda Mabulu's of this world," Mabulu added.
