Be prepared to sacrifice 2016 academic year: EFFSC
The EFF Student Command (EFFSC) on Wednesday said students must be prepared to sacrifice the 2016 academic year.
Briefing media this afternoon the EFFSC shed light on its plans to intensify the struggle for free higher education.
The EFFSC is blaming the rise in student protests on government inaction and said a national shutdown has been planned for next week.
EFFSC President Mpho Morolane said they are mobilising churches, labour and civil society to join the students in their struggle.
"This is the struggle that affects all of us. On 10 October there won't be an institution that is going to operate," he said.
Morolane said, as much as they want to graduate, they want fee free higher education even more.
"We want free, quality education. If it takes that our graduations, our finishing must be postponed, then let it be. We won't be the first generation to do that, but the struggle we are embarking on is more essential than a piece of paper called a qualification," he said.
