KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial health department has suspended 30 employees amid allegations of corrupt employment practices.

Desmond Motha, the department’s spokesman, said in a statement released late Monday night, that the 30 employees had been suspended from Mseleni Hospital following preliminary investigations.
The suspensions followed complaints from the local community that the hospital had been “?biased in the selection and employment of people for the posts that are advertised and filled at the hospital”.
Motha said that ?27 recently employed orderlies along with a laundry manager, the human resources manager and a systems manager had been suspended.
?Mseleni Hospital is a rural health facility located in the far north of KwaZulu-Natal, about 60 kilometres south of South Africa’s border with Mozambique.
