Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The preliminary results of the University of the Witwatersrand's (Wits) poll, shows 77% of students want classes to resume on Monday.

The university conducted the poll yesterday to gauge the views of students and staff amid ongoing protests demanding free higher education.
Wits spokesperson Shirona Patel says the final results for the staff poll is yet to be announced.
She added that the university will announce the outcome later this afternoon after independent auditors verified the numbers.
"The results of the poll as well as feedback from parents, alumni and other stakeholders will inform management's decision-making as to whether to open on Monday. Management has also reached out to the student leadership, to the academic unions and other stakeholders to engage on a way forward," she said.
Patel said university management will decide on how to proceed at the weekend.
