MTN 8- It's about who wants it the most - Vilakazi

Sbibusiso Vilakazi probably never thought he would be facing his former club so soon after his high-profile switch from Bidvest Wits to Mamelodi Sundowns -- and in a winner-takes-all final at that..

Sibusiso Vilakazi was the toast of the PSL in the 2013/14 season, capturing the Footballer of the Year award while at Bidvest Wits.

He became one of the most sought after players in the pre-season transfer window and has now landed at Mamelodi Sundowns following is high-profile move from Sturrock Park to Chloorkop.

The attacking midfielder has yet to lift any silverware in his much-publicized career and these are the occasions he longed for and might even have been the major motivation for his move.

Vilakazi's trophy harvest in his career thus far has, however, been pretty barren and is limited to the Bidvest Wits Nedbank Cup-winning squad under Roger de Sa in 2010.

While the 26-year-old midfielder's primary motive for swopping the familiar blue and white Clever Boys jersey for the yellow and blue Sundowns strip was primarily to try get back in the winners column as a player, he is more than wary of his former club's title aspirations.

As the benchmark for success in both South African and continental soccer at the moment, the Brazilians are probably under more pressure than the pretenders to their throne, but there is no doubt that Wits are already starting to show signs of living up to their pre-season billing as major trophy contenders.

" I think Wits are not too far from attaining what they are out to achieve in terms of trophies and they certainly have the players to do it, " remarked Vilakazi.

" They are a quality side, but at the same time we also like to play under pressure," he added.

"If there was no pressure, there would be no meaning to the game. That's when your best comes out and we thive on it."

But at the end of the day, maintained Vilakazi, it's about the hunger and who wants it the most and taking the emotion out of the match while facing up to a team where he grew up and learned his craft.
