Whiteley ruled out of Highlanders clash
Updated | By Trevor Cramer
Lions' Springbok loose forward Jaco Kriel will captain the Lions in Saturdays Super Rugby semi-final against the Highlanders at Ellis Park.
Regular captain and fellow Springbok Warren Whiteley picked up a calf strain last week in the clash with the Crusaders and has been ruled out.
In the only change to the run-on side, Whiteley has been replaced at eighth man by Ruan Ackermann.
With Cyle Brink injured, Steph de Witt and Lourens Erasmus have been brought on to the substitutes bench as forward cover.
Ross Cronje is also out injured and he has been unseated on the bench by Dillon Smit.
Trevor Cramer spoke to Kriel at Thursday's team announcement at Ellis Park...
