Clooney didn't buy anniversary gift for Amal

George Clooney has revealed he didn't buy his wife Amal Clooney a gift for their first wedding anniversary because he's planning to get more extravagant as the years go on.

The 54-year-old actor has admitted he didn't feel the need to shower the human rights lawyer, 37, with lavish presents on their celebratory day because he wanted to keep it low-key.
Speaking to Extra's AJ Calloway, he said: "I had to start off by (going to) a Jerry Weintraub event ... and then afterwards she and I got to sneak out and have a dinner."
Clearly disappointed with George's lack of effort on the romantic occasion, AJ joked: "That was it, just a dinner?"
The 'Monuments Men' star hit back with humour: "What are you going to do, shoot off fireworks?"
He added: "You know, sometimes you just go to dinner."
However, despite the hunk's determination to keep things simple for their first year milestone, he has admitted he's planning to get more extravagant as the time goes on.
He said: "This is the paper anniversary you don't want to go too crazy on the first, you know, you've got a lot more to do."
The couple - who got married on September 27, 2014 - celebrated their anniversary on Sunday with a quiet dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel's Tower Bar in West Hollywood.
