King Charles and his son, Prince Harry, are reportedly taking the "first step towards reconciliation".

Senior aids for the father and son met in London a few days ago, leading many to believe a family reunion could be on the cards in 2025.

Daily Mail photographers captured Harry's chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, meeting with the king's communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae.

A source told the publication the aids did not have a formal agenda and spoke casually over drinks.

"There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to America with their son, Prince Archie. Their daughter, Princess Lilibet, was born in California.

A tell-all book, an interview with Oprah Winfrey and a battle over security seemed to add further tension between Harry and his family.

"Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk," the source told the Daily Mail.

In May, Harry told the BBC, "Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But, you know, I would love reconciliation with my family."

He also said that there was no point in continuing to fight anymore.

"As I said, life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has... he won't speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile."
