Sport, Arts & Culture relief applicants limited to R20 000

Applicants of the Sport, Arts & Culture Relief Fund will only be able to receive a maximum of R20 000 each.

This was revealed by the Minister of Sports, Arts & Culture Nathi Mthethwa in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The minister said the cap will ensure that more people are able to benefit from the fund.
“We said that the ceiling is going to be R20 000, so it means if you feel that you lost R4 million, we won’t have that R4 million.
“This R20 000 doesn’t mean that if you asked for R5000 or R10 000 you’d voluntarily get R20 000. So you will get what you have asked for as long as it does not go beyond the ceiling which is R20 000.”
The department has received 300 application from the sports sector. To date 93 successful applicants received their relief funds.
A total of 232 have been applicants have been approved in the arts and culture sector.
Mthethwa says his department is doing “everything to ensure everyone gets relief”.
