Introducing Sir David Beckham.

The 50-year-old  was one of several people King Charles awarded knighthoods to as part of his Birthday Honours list.

Actor Gary Oldman and the Who frontman Roger Daltrey were also among those who received the honour.

Beckham received the title for his contributions to sport and charity. The former Manchester United player was once captain of England's football team.

He now lives in America and is co-owner of the Inter Miami football club. The club signed Lionel Messi in 2023.

"Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour.

"To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. Off the pitch, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation," Sir Beckham said in a statement.

The British royal family has also knighted Elton John, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart, Anthony Hopkins, Ian McKellen, Sean Connery, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton in the past.

His wife can now refer to herself as Lady Victoria Beckham.

The couple, whose fans call them Posh and Becks, are often considered British royalty due to their worldwide fame.

Victoria took to Instagram to celebrate her knight in shining armour's new title.

"You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you," the Spice Girls star wrote.

"Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us every day," she added.

Lady Beckham included a picture of herself kissing her husband on the cheek.

"I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much."

The couple's son, Romeo Beckham, left a heart emoji under the post. Posh and Becks have three other children: Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper.

They are all no doubt proud of their dad's latest accomplishment.
