The University of Johannesburg has confirmed that nineteen students were injured during Tuesday morning’s crash involving two buses.

The crash occurred near the university’s Auckland Park Kingsway campus entrance.
A total of 77 people were injured.
The university's spokesperson Herman Esterhuizen said one of the buses was ferrying students between campuses.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that approximately 19 students were on the bus. Three students were taken to a local hospital while 16 others are receiving counselling on campus.”
Esterhuizen says the affected students are receiving medical care and counselling.
"Various support divisions from the University, including the UJ Medical Support Services and Campus Protection, were immediately on the scene to assist. The University’s Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development has also set up counselling services to support affected students.”
The cause of the crash is not known, and a case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened.
#Busaccident Van Reenen says initial report shows that over 77 people have sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
