3 gunmen on the run after fatal Lawley bus shooting

Police are on the hunt for three suspects who opened fire at a commuter bus in Lawley, south of Johannesburg, on Tuesday.

According to police the bus stopped at the Lawley railway station around 5am to pick up commuters when the trio opened fire.
It’s alleged the suspects then hurled a petrol bomb at the bus.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says the suspects have not yet been identified.
“An unconfirmed number of commuters were injured while attempting to alight from the bus. The driver of the bus was fatally wounded. The injured commuters were ferried to hospital for medical attention.”
Peters says the motive for the shooting is unknown.
“Police have opened a case of murder and malicious damage to property for investigation.”

He faces a charge of abduction and attempted murder. It's understood security personnel were alerted to the scene just after midday where they found the man dangling the one-year-old child over the bridge. East London community members also tried to assist in the dramatic rescue.
