This brings the total number of arrests to eight.

The newly arrested suspects, aged between 23 and 43, were apprehended in the Nokaneng area near Kwamhlanga.

They are expected to appear in the Kwamhlanga Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on charges of kidnapping, hijacking, and house robbery.

As part of the investigation, a joint police task team from Head Office, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga last week discovered two decomposed bodies in Kwamhlanga.

Forensic analysis is underway to determine whether the remains belong to the missing couple.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Zeph Mkhwanazi expressed confidence in the progress of the investigation thus far.

“This development represents a major breakthrough for the Police. We are utilizing all available resources to uncover the truth behind what has transpired to the two victims. We are encouraged by the team's diligent efforts, which are yielding positive results. The investigation remains ongoing, and the SAPS is committed to bringing all responsible parties to justice.”

The five suspects previously arrested remain in custody while waiting for their next court appearance.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority in Mpumalanga, cell phone data has placed the first two accused near the couple at the time of their disappearance.

“Cell phone evidence reveals that the cell phones of accused numbers one and two are linking them with the cell phones of the victims,” said provincial NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa.

Ndlovu and Mdhluli were reported missing in February after leaving their home in a vehicle.

Police have since seized two cars allegedly fitted with parts believed to be from Ndlovu’s vehicle.

Home appliances allegedly stolen from the couple's residence have also been recovered, including a fridge, stove, microwave, blankets, and other items.
