70 Mthatha pupils in hospital with suspected food poisoning

Seventy pupils from Gobizizwe Agricultural School in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday due to suspected food poisoning.

The provincial Health Department’s Siyanda Manana said paramedicsattended to the pupils at the school.
He said they were immediately rushed to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital.
“Some of the learners were in drips, and those in serious condition were transported by helicopter.”
Wednesday’s incident comes months after a series of food poisoning incidents, the most serious of which happenee in June when several children in Soweto died after eating snacks contaminated with Terbucycline.
