Nine dead, 20 injured in N3 crash

A crash involving several on the N3 in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg, has claimed the lives of nine people and left at least twenty others injured.

ER24 say when paramedics arrived at the scene on Monday, several victims were found lying on the road.
Ekurhuleni emergency spokesperson William Ntladi says about twelve vehicles were involved in the crash.
"Six trucks, two minibus taxis, three light motor vehicles and one bakkie.”
Nine people were declared dead on the scene.
"Six of the patients are female, two are male and one unknown gender. The reason being that the unknown gender was in one of the vehicles that caught fire after the crash," says Ntladi.
Injuries to the other victims ranged from minor to critical.
"We have transported the patients to various hospitals around Ekurhuleni such as the Thelle Mogoerane Hospital, Union Hospital and Sunshine Hospital," Ntladi added.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
