9 dead in horrific taxi crash

"Earlier this morning, a gruesome taxi accident claimed the lives of 5 male and 4 female occupants. 6 other occupants of the taxi sustained serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals."

Africa says authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the crash.

"The vehicle driving in front of the taxi was towing another vehicle. The rope broke where the taxi driver swerved to prevent an accident with the vehicle that was towed. He however lost control of the taxi and the vehicle rolled."

Africa says the taxi driver survived the crash and is recovering in hospital. 

He is expected to appear in court soon.
